Vacancies - Volunteer coaches CFC

Scottish Fencing are potentially looking to recruit some volunteer coaches for the upcoming Commonwealth Fencing Championships in Canberra, Australia. If you are interested in supporting our athletes in this way and feel you are qualified, please read the job description below and send the CFC Team Manager a note of interest with CV and/or a covering letter detailing your suitability for the role.

Referee Advisory Group Strategists

Do you want fencing in Scotland to continue to grow and improve?

Do you want competitions in Scotland underpinned by high quality refereeing?

If the answer to these questions is YES, then we have an exciting opportunity for you!

Scottish Fencing recognise that the development of a clear Referee Pathway is essential to the continued growth and development of our sport. To support the development of this pathway, we are looking for two volunteer strategists to join the new Referee Advisory Group (RAG).

2018 Positive Behaviour in Sport training

Scottish Fencing are running a Positive Behaviour Management in Sport workshop on the 18 September. This is an excellent workshop aimed at all volunteers working with children in clubs. This training will suit welfare officers, organisers of junior tournaments, junior team managers as well as coaching staff. And whilst aimed at those who work with children it will change the outlook and way volunteers communicate with people of all ages.

2018 Youth Home Nations - update

Scottish Fencing put a call out for junior fencers who would be interested in representing Scotland at the Youth Home Nations which are being held in Cardiff in September. Following a highly successful Cadet and Junior Commonwealth Fencing Championships (CJCFC) many of the team selected for that event were unable to attend the Home nations and we thought this would be a great opportunity for those who didn’t fence at the CJCFC to have a great weekend of individual and team fencing.

2018 CFC Selection - Senior

Congratulations to all who were selected for the 2018 Commonwealth Fencing Championships. The following fencers accepted their invitations so the teams competing in Canberra are:

2018 Youth 5 Nations, Cardiff

Scottish Fencing is hoping to send a squad of fencers to 2018 Youth 5 nations being held at the Cardiff Met University.

The dates are 1 and 2 September with individual championships on the Saturday and Team matches the next day.

Following the recent Cadet and Junior Commonwealth Championships we recognise that the same squad of fencers might not be able to afford another trip away so are considering opening this event to less experienced fencers who would welcome the opportunity to represent Scotland.

2018 CFC selection update

The documents below are the Men's and Women's Foil and Men's Sabre data which will be put to the selectors for the Commonwealth Championships in Canberra in November.  British Fencing has not published its July ranking lists so these are based on 11 months of our selection period.  We are not aware of any competitions in June which will have a material impact on the selection decisions.  An updated Women's Sabre is now posted below.
