2020 Youth Home Nations

This years Youth Home Nations will be held in Manchester on 27th June 2020 and we will shortly be contacting the top ranked fencers across each weapon category to ask for availability if selected. As in previous years, fencers aged 18 or under will be eligible for Scotland selection.

The intention is to have 5 team staff with a Head of Delegation and Team Manager joined by 3 weapon coaches in the same structure used for the event in Dublin in 2019.

Any athlete who receives an email should reply timeously with your stated intention to take up selection if offered. We will also be facilitating squad training in the run up to the event. Squad training is open to any fencer invited, even if they are unable to attend the competition in Manchester. Selection of the final team will be from those who can attend training sessions.

Dates and venues of training sessions to be confirmed.

Once we understand cost of entry and accommodation/travel from the host nation we will communicate that straight away to selected athletes.

Scottish Fencing CEO Vincent Bryson is delighted to send a team, particularly one capable of building on such strong performances on and off piste in 2019.

The buy-in from athletes, coaches, team staff and parents was phenomenal in 2019 and we want to replicate and build upon that this year. It was heartening to see so many social media posts of young people demonstrating how proud they were of their teams performance and their own contribution. Ideally, with additional training days this year we can create another fantastic environment for athletes and coaches to thrive within. I’m looking forward to the event immensely.”
