Cost of Membership (1971/72 Fencing Season)
The annual subscription for full individual membership of British Fencing (then known as the Amateur Fencing Association of Great Britain) was increased to £3.00 per year.
A significant concession on membership was made to boys and girls whilst they attended schools where there were affiliated school fencing clubs; they only needed to pay £1.00 per year.
Individual Life Membership could be purchased "on payment of a composite fee of £35.00 in lieu of all annual subscriptions". Sadly, the inflationary years of the ensuing decades meant the offer became over generous; eventually, it was closed to new applicants. Only a small number of life members remain, of which an even smaller number are still involved in the sport.
