Chief Operating Officer and Club Development Officer

The Board of Scottish Fencing is delighted to announce who is joining the Scottish Fencing staff team.

Vincent Bryson - known as “Vinny” -  will be Chief Operating Officer from the 29 August and Alex Pearson will be our second Club Development Officer from the 4 September.  Both are part-time roles.

Vinny has several years’ experience working for other sporting governing bodies including Scottish Squash and Scottish Hockey; he remains active as a Director of Scottish Archery.

Alex is a face well known to many in the Scottish fencing community from his fencing career, including his involvement in student fencing and refereeing.

Vincent will spend his first months meeting as many key volunteers and clubs as he can manage whilst working with the Board on the next submission to sportScotland.

Alex will focus on supporting clubs to achieve Swordmark accreditation, working with clubs on both membership initiatives and delivery of elements of Scottish Fencing’s Equality Action Plan.

Mike O’Donnell will step down from his role as Interim Chief Operating Officer on the 30 September. The Board is very grateful to Mike who stepped in to provide cover whilst Scottish Fencing was without a Chief Executive Officer through a very busy period.  With his legendary enthusiasm and energy, Mike provided support to the Board at a critical time.  The Board appreciates his commitment, effort and hard work in this role and wishes him every success in his future endeavours.
