Annual Equality Survey - Why it matters
As part of our commitment to equality and to demonstrate that Scottish Fencing meets the equality related governance standards set by sportScotland, we are required to collect and report equality statistics.
British Fencing will collect this data on our behalf by conducting an online, anonymous Equality Survey. This was emailed to all members on the 2 June 2016.
The Scottish Fencing Board encourages all members to complete this survey to support our efforts to deliver our commitment to equality and secure future public funding to grow our sport. It takes less than 3 minutes to complete and is a vital part of the governance work that the Scottish Fencing Board are required to undertake.
The results of the survey will allow Scottish Fencing to get an increased understanding of whether (from an equality perspective) we, as an organisation, are representative of our members, and as a sport are representative of society at large. We will subsequently be looking at areas where we can take additional action – for example, how we might take into account views of unrepresented groups in our governance structure.
When completing the survey, please note the following:
- The survey is anonymous.
- The questions are standard equality questions – and you have the option on each question to select 'Prefer not to say'.
- The individual responses are not stored on a British Fencing system.
- Results in summary form will be provided to the Board and Executive of British and Scottish Fencing and funding partners.
- It takes less than 3 minutes to complete.
