2019 Challenge Wratislavia Volunteer Opportunity - Squad Manager

Vacancy - Squad Manager CW and U15/U13 Squad 2019 – Voluntary

Closing date:  noon 8 October 2018

Term:  Present – April 2019

Scottish Fencing are seeking a Squad Manager for Challenge Wratislavia 2019. As well as being Team Manager and Welfare Officer for the tournament, this role is to create, lead and establish a culture of athlete development which reflects the age and stage of our U15/ U13 squad members. Nurturing them as athletes and people with a focus on long-term development with Challenge Wratislavia 2019 being a key step in this pathway.

This year fencers will travel independently to Wroclaw reducing the level of chaperoning and coordination required by the Scottish Fencing Governing body. This role will have a major input to the planning of the pre-event training and the squad trip. The volunteer will communicate with parents and be involved in making arrangements.

Working with the Selections Director and with support from the Executive Administrator this volunteer will communicate with squad members and parents/carers regarding selection. They will also be the key point of contact whilst the competitors are in their care in Poland.

This role would suit a coach with an ambition to support our younger fencers beyond a chaperoning or team management role. Someone with vision to see how our U15/U13 fencers can bring on their fencing and life skills from competing at Challenge Wratislavia.

This is a voluntary role with hours as required, travel and accommodation expenses are covered as is provision of SF Canterbury kit.
