BBC Interview with Sandy Leckie

If you missed the live broadcast of BBC Radio Scotland's interview with Sandy Leckie on Tuesday, we have heard it will be accessible through the BBC iPlayer in the next few days. We shall add a link as soon as we can.

BBC Radio Scotland have been trying to contact and interview all surviving past gold medallists from the Commonwealth Games. In the 1970 Games, held in Edinburgh, a gold medal in sabre was gained for Scotland by Sandy Leckie. Sandy was also a gold medallist in the Perth (Australia) Games of 1962 and a silver medallist in the Jamaica Games in 1966, as well as winning the British Senior Championships in men's foil (1961, 1965, 1967) and sabre (1963, 1964, 1965, 1967,1968). On his way up, he also was British Junior Sabre Champion in 1957 and Junior Epee Champion in 1958.

A wall panel in the reception area of Caledonia House lists the gold medal winners in every Commonwealth Games. Sandy's name is up there twice!
