Ready Steady Fence Coaching Course

Scottish Fencing is continuing to offer “Ready Steady Fence” courses in the Coach Education Programme for the 2012-2013 fencing season.


“Ready Steady Fence” is an entry level National Governing Body qualification suitable for teachers, volunteers and activity leaders without previous fencing experience. It contains all you need to know to confidently introduce basic fencing skills, concepts, fun and games in schools, local clubs or youth groups in a safe and effective manner. Ready Steady Fence will actively promote Positive Coaching Scotland’s Double Goal Coach Ethos which seeks to create a positive environment in which children can develop life skills that they can use in and out of sport.

This course is a two day event at Mayfield Sports Centre in Dundee:

Saturday 18th May consists of

  1. Half Day Child Protection Training
  2. Half day First Aid Training

Sunday 19th May consists of 4 modules

  1. Health & Safety/ Double Goal Coach Ethos
  2. Warm Up Games.
  3. Basic Fencing Skills/Group Work
  4. Ready Steady Fence Challenge!

The cost of this entry level qualification is £40, including first aid and child protection certificates.

This two day course on Saturday 18th  & Sunday 19th May will take place at:

Both days are 0900hrs through until 1700hrs.
