2017 Challenge Wratislavia - final selections

Please note this list is not in order. Also it does not include those fencers who finished high in the rankings but who have informed the selectors that they are unable to join the squad.

2017 British Team Champions - Ladies Sabre

Congratulations to Salle Ossian who are Ladies Sabre British Team Champions for the second year running.

Well done Sarah-Jane Hampson, Kate Daykin and Lucy Higham!

Selection for 2017 Veterans 4 Nations Match

This year’s Veterans 4 Nation match will be held in Ireland on Saturday 6th May near Dublin with all events being held on one day.  Due to the increased cost of booking travel and the availability of hotels, the selection date for the Scottish Veterans for this event will be Monday 13th February.  Rankings will be based on those at the end of January plus any adjustment for competitions between then and the 13th, e.g. the MOFT.

The selection process to choose the Squad that will represent Scotland at the 2017 Challenge Wratislavia is now underway and we hope to announce the decisions soon.

Elizabeth Wright - Obituary

Scottish Fencing recently heard the sad news that Elizabeth Wright passed away peacefully at home. Elizabeth was a major influence in coaching and the Schools committee for decades and with her husband Bob contributed so much to Scottish Fencing.

For anyone in the fencing community who wishes to attend her funeral and celebration of life this will take place on Monday 23 January at 4pm at Seafield Cemetery and Crematorium, Seafield Rd, Edinburgh, EH6 7LD.

Roy Clarke to step down as Scottish Fencing CEO

I am sorry to announce that Roy Clarke has decided to step down as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Scottish Fencing at the end of January 2017.

Scottish Fencing has gone through a significant transformation over recent years particularly in terms of how professional our organisation has become.  A key part of this professionalisation has been the creation of the new CEO post. Roy took on this responsibility in 2014 and was formally appointed in 2015.
