Positive Coaching Scotland – Parent Workshop

As a parent or carer of a fencer, perhaps one of your most important roles is to help your child understand the important life lessons to be gained from their participation in sport. This seminar, run by Positive Coaching Scotland, aims to provide parents and carers with the framework and tools for building a positive sporting experience.  Further details on PCS and what it’s all about can be found here.

Dave Jerry - Obituary

Scottish Fencing is sad to announce another loss to the fencing community. North Section stalwart and organiser of the Highland Open, Dave Jerry passed away yesterday afternoon after a long illness.

Dave served the British Academy of Fencing for many years as Assistant Secretary, as an examiner and as a coach educator. As course officer he organised many Denstone courses. He was also an excellent coach and received the Brian Pitman Memorial Award in 2008.

Whilst Dave was stationed at RAF Kinloss he ran the Highland Open for several years.

Performance Manager

It is with regret that the Board announces that Don McKenzie will be leaving Scottish Fencing at the end of May due to redundancy.  Don has supported many of our athletes onto the British Fencing performance pathway including Katie Smith, Chloe Dickson, Kate Daykin and Jess Corby over the nine years in the post, working with the Scottish Institute of Sport to ensure our athletes made best use of the support provided by them.  He has supported many Scottish Fencing teams at Five-Nation matches and Senior and Junior Commonwealth Championships.
