2018 Commonwealth Junior & Cadet Fencing Championships  - Scotland Team Selection Criteria

The 2018 Junior and Cadet Commonwealth Fencing Championships will take place in July 2018 - final dates and venue are not confirmed yet.

Scottish Fencing aim to select up to five fencers at each weapon.

Selection will be based on the GB Junior and Cadet rankings as at 1st April 2018 (the end of 2017/18 season).

To be eligible for selection for the Team a fencer must;

Highlights so far are Joe Donaghue U14 Epee Champion, Milenka Zadora U14 Girls Foil and Jamie Cooke U12 Foil Champion! And there were another 15 top 8 finishes!

2017 School Games Selection Information

The event is held at Loughborough University between Thursday 31st – Sunday 3rd September 2017. The selected fencers must commit to arriving & leaving on these dates & must attend the closing ceremony on the Sunday.

To be eligible fencers must be born 1999-2003, i.e. U18 and O13 at the start of the calendar year.

There are 3 fencers allowed selected for the individual event of which 2 will fence in the mixed team

Positive Coaching Scotland – Parent Workshop

Want your fencer to get the best experience from their sport? As a parent or carer of a fencer, perhaps one of your most important roles is to help your child understand the important life lessons to be gained from their participation in sport. This seminar, run by Positive Coaching Scotland, aims to provide parents and carers with the framework and tools for building a positive sporting experience.  Further details on PCS and what it’s all about can be found here.

2017 Challenge Wratislavia - final selections

Congratulations to all competitors who fought in the qualifiers. The selectors are inviting the following fencers to join the squad for Challenge Wratislavia this year. Please note this list is not in order. Also it does not include those fencers who finished high in the rankings but who have informed the selectors that they are unable to join the squad.

2017 Challenge Wratislavia - final rankings and selection

The selection process to choose the Squad that will represent Scotland at the 2017 Challenge Wratislavia is now underway and we hope to announce the decisions soon.

BYC Regional Qualifiers

The British Youth Fencing Championships are running on the 29 April to the 1 May and you can find further information about the tournament here. This is an essential tournament for younger competitive fencers wanting to progress their fencing to national or international levels.
