2018 Youth Home Nations - update

Scottish Fencing put a call out for junior fencers who would be interested in representing Scotland at the Youth Home Nations which are being held in Cardiff in September. Following a highly successful Cadet and Junior Commonwealth Fencing Championships (CJCFC) many of the team selected for that event were unable to attend the Home nations and we thought this would be a great opportunity for those who didn’t fence at the CJCFC to have a great weekend of individual and team fencing.

2018 Youth 5 Nations, Cardiff

Scottish Fencing is hoping to send a squad of fencers to 2018 Youth 5 nations being held at the Cardiff Met University.

The dates are 1 and 2 September with individual championships on the Saturday and Team matches the next day.

Following the recent Cadet and Junior Commonwealth Championships we recognise that the same squad of fencers might not be able to afford another trip away so are considering opening this event to less experienced fencers who would welcome the opportunity to represent Scotland.

2019 Challenge Wratislavia - outcome of feedback

A big thank you to all who sent comments or spoke to Ross, Scottish Fencing Director for Development regarding Challenge Wratislavia.

It is a great event and clearly been a big part of many of our younger fencers development. The outcomes from the consultation are:

2019 Challenge Wratislavia - thank you

Thank you to everyone who contributed to the consultation process For Challenge Wratislavia 2019. It was fantastic to hear from so many within our fencing community and for me it feels like the final process is a real community effort.

2019 Challenge Wratislavia - proposals

Competing at Challenge Wratislavia has been a highlight for many of our younger fencers. It is an inspirational tournament. It is challenging but not beyond many of our younger fencers which makes it an ideal first step to competing outside of the UK.

Friendships made on this trip are a legacy that bonds future Scottish Fencing teams and it is great to see how young people develop during the trip.

It is a fantastic event but over the years it has grown beyond the capacity for Scottish Fencing to manage with the resources available. And this is why we are conducting a review.

2018 how to pass weapons control

This is a guide on how to pass weapons control written by Scottish Fencing's armourer Malcom Napier Holford.

If you would like to have your weapons or equipment tested Malcolm is also running open sessions on a Monday evening at West Fife Fencing Club from the 25 May to 2nd July.
