Information
Position:
Director (HR and Equality)
Day Job:
HR Consultant

Key responsibilities: HR and Equality

Background:

I am delighted to have joined the Board of Scottish Fencing. My fencing career began in 1971 (I think), when Scottish Fencing looked to capitalise on the equipment and interest generated by the 1970 Commonwealth Games. There was a club at school, coached by Bert Bracewell and I was hooked from day one.

My fencing experience includes:

  • Representing Scotland in numerous senior and veteran quads since 1976
  • Team Captain when we won in Darlington
  • President of Scottish Fencing 1994 - 1997 (approx)
  • Representing Scotland in numerous Commonwealth Fencing Championships at senior and veteran level
  • I currently fence in a variety of clubs in the West with occasional forays East. I was given a life membership of Bellahouston Fencing Club when I became President and fence under their name in most competitions.

My working experience was as a HR Manager, I have run my own consultancy since 1998. Within the Board I have taken responsibility for HR and Equality issues.
